Reflux Disease

An introduction to gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Reflux is a term used to describe the fluid the escapes from the stomach and enters the esophagus.  It is often very acidic, since the fluid comes from the stomach, but also can contain bile and other digestive enzymes.  This leads to the burning feeling you may get when reflux occurs.

Reflux is known by many terms

Although Reflux disease is commonly referred to by many different names, they all refer to painful burning in the chest caused by acid bubbling up from the stomach into the esophagus.
