Reflux Surgery

Surgery is very successful for reflux disease, but less than 10% of patients will need surgery. It is imperative to get a complete workup prior to considering surgery.

Surgery for reflux is almost always done laparoscopically now. This means that three or four small incisions are made and a camera is used to see in the abdomen. Small instruments are used to manipulate the tissues in order to complete surgery.
